Who it fits

Key specs explained for you

Capacity: 35 cu ft

This volume tells you how much gear fits inside. Thirty-five cubic feet is ample for multiple suitcases or camping tents. You can load bulky items that would not fit in a standard soft bag. Compare this capacity to smaller 25 cu ft models if you have less cargo. It suits families or travelers carrying heavy loads.

Dimensions: 60 x 42 x 24 in

These measurements define the physical footprint on your vehicle roof. The 60-inch length fits most standard crossbars, while the 42-inch width stays clear of side mirrors. The 24-inch height adds vertical space without excessive drag. Check your vehicle roof size to ensure this bag does not overhang dangerously. It offers a large surface area for flat packing.

Shell Type: Vinyl

Vinyl is a synthetic material known for durability and water resistance. It protects your luggage from rain and road debris. Unlike fabric, vinyl is easier to wipe clean after a trip. It resists abrasion from branches or rough handling. This material choice makes the bag suitable for harsh weather conditions and long-distance driving.

Water Resistance: Waterproof

This rating means the bag seals out moisture completely. You do not need to cover your cargo with tarps. The zipper is protected by flaps to prevent leaks during heavy rain. This feature keeps clothes and electronics dry. It is essential for overlanding or camping trips where weather changes quickly.

Design And Build Quality

The listing describes the shell as a soft vinyl construction. This material choice means the carrier is lightweight and flexible. It weighs 13 pounds, making it easy to handle without a roof rack. The dimensions are 60 inches long, 42 inches wide, and 24 inches high. This footprint allows it to cover most vehicle roofs, even those without crossbars. The soft design conforms to the roof shape, reducing wind noise compared to hard boxes.

According to the listing, the bag includes a full set of mounting accessories. You get four short buckle straps, two long buckle straps, and three ratchet straps. Six door hooks and two trunk hooks are also included. These components allow you to secure the bag to vehicles without existing roof racks. A rugged roof mat is part of the bundle to prevent scratches on your car’s paint. This setup makes the carrier versatile for SUVs, trucks, and vans.

The finish is black, which helps hide dirt and wear. The waterproof zipper is tucked beneath protective flaps with Velcro closures. This design keeps moisture out during rain. The welded seams and reinforced stitching add durability to the vinyl shell. The entire set, including the carry case, fits into a compact storage space when not in use. This layout ensures you have all the tools needed for secure transport, regardless of your vehicle’s existing hardware.

Setup And Everyday Use

Setting up this carrier involves securing the vinyl shell to your vehicle roof using the included hardware. The listing provides a comprehensive strap set to handle various mounting scenarios. You will receive four short buckle straps and two long buckle straps for primary tensioning. Three ratchet straps offer additional securing power for heavy loads. The kit also includes six door hooks and two trunk hooks. These hooks engage with your vehicle doors to prevent the bag from shifting during transit. A rugged roof mat sits between the carrier and your paint. This layer protects against scratches and helps keep the bag in place. The waterproof zipper features protective flaps with Velcro closures. This design keeps moisture out while you load gear. You can mount this carrier on crossbars, side rails, or racks. It also functions without any existing rack system. The 35 cubic foot capacity allows you to store duffels, tents, sleeping bags, and suitcases. The 60 by 42 inch footprint covers most standard vehicle roofs. The 24 inch height provides ample vertical space for bulky items. Securing the load is straightforward with the provided buckles and ratchets. The entire bundle, including the carry case, fits together for storage. The 10-year limited warranty covers the construction. This setup ensures your cargo remains protected from the elements. You do not need to worry about rain entering through the seams. The welded seams and reinforced stitching add durability to the soft shell. Daily use involves loading your gear, tightening the straps, and engaging the hooks. The process is designed to be simple and secure.

Before You Buy This Roof Bag

Before you purchase this Mockins roof bag, verify your vehicle roof dimensions. The bag measures 60 by 42 inches. Ensure your roof can support this surface area without overhang issues. Check your roof material. The included roof mat protects against scratches, but inspect your paint for existing damage. Consider your typical cargo. This 35 cubic foot capacity suits bulky items like tents or duffels. It may not secure small, loose items as tightly as a hard box. Plan for storage when not in use. The listing includes a carry case, so you need a garage or trunk space for it. Compare this soft option against hard shell alternatives. Hard boxes offer better aerodynamics and theft protection. This bag is lighter and more flexible. It fits vehicles without racks, which hard boxes cannot do. If you lack crossbars, this bag is a practical choice. If you prioritize security and noise reduction, a hard box might be better. Keep the straps organized. Losing one ratchet strap complicates future trips. Store the bag in a cool, dry place to preserve the vinyl seams.

Check before you buy

• Measure your roof to ensure the 60x42 inch footprint fits safely.
• Check if your vehicle roof has existing scratches or damage.
• Confirm you have space to store the carry case when idle.
• Decide if flexibility is more important than theft protection.
