The PM Performotor 11 Cu Ft Hard Roof Box offers 11 cubic feet of storage with a 53-inch length and 110-pound load limit. This pm performotor rooftop cargo box carrier alternatives guide helps you find other options if you need different dimensions or features. You might prefer a soft bag for easier storage when not in use. Some drivers need more volume than 11 cubic feet provides. Others may want a carrier that fits vehicles without existing roof racks.
The products listed here were chosen because their specifications overlap with the original PM Performotor model. Each alternative shares key traits like roof mounting capability and weather-resistant materials. You will see options ranging from 11 to 30 cubic feet in capacity. This list includes both hard shell boxes and soft roof bags. You can compare lengths, widths, and heights to find the best fit for your vehicle. The data focuses on practical specs rather than subjective opinions. This approach ensures you make an informed decision based on measurable attributes.
How each alternative compares
DNA Motoring 11 cu ft Roof Box
The DNA Motoring 11 cu ft Roof Box matches the PM Performotor in capacity and external dimensions, measuring 53 inches long by 34 inches wide by 15 inches high. It shares the 110 lb load limit, making it a direct swap for drivers who want similar storage volume. The main difference is the finish. This model uses a textured black surface rather than the glossy black found on the Performotor. Textured finishes often hide scratches and UV fading better than high-gloss plastics. It also explicitly lists lockable hardware in its attributes. If you prefer a matte look that resists showing wear, this option fits your needs without changing your cargo volume or roof footprint.
MeeFar 15 cu ft Roof Bag
The MeeFar 15 cu ft Roof Bag offers significantly more space than the PM Performotor. While the Performotor holds 11 cubic feet, this soft bag provides 15 cubic feet. It is shorter at 44 inches but taller at 17 inches. This shape suits taller items that might not fit in a lower hard shell. However, it weighs 100 kilograms, which is an unusual spec for a roof bag and likely indicates a manufacturing error or packaging weight rather than product weight. You must check your vehicle’s weight limits carefully. It lacks the rigid protection of the Performotor’s ABS plastic. Choose this if you need extra volume for bulky gear and do not require the aerodynamic benefits of a hard shell.
FIVKLEMNZ 30 Cubic Feet Roof Bag
The FIVKLEMNZ 30 Cubic Feet Roof Bag doubles the storage capacity of the PM Performotor. It measures 60 inches long by 60 inches wide by 20 inches high. This massive footprint requires a vehicle with a wide roof or a robust rack system. It weighs only 12 pounds, making it much lighter than the Performotor’s hard plastic shell. The soft material allows you to compress gear to fit more items. It is ideal for families needing maximum space on vehicles without fixed roof racks. You sacrifice the weatherproof rigidity and aerodynamic efficiency of the Performotor. Pick this option if cargo volume is your primary concern and you can manage the larger profile on the road.
Sailnovo 21 cu ft Soft Roof Bag
The Sailnovo 21 cu ft Soft Roof Bag provides nearly double the storage of the PM Performotor. It measures 9.84 inches long by 7.09 inches wide by 13.8 inches high when packed, which seems to be its folded dimension. The inflated dimensions are not listed, but the 21 cubic feet capacity indicates a large soft shell. It weighs 8.16 pounds, offering easy handling compared to the heavier Performotor. This bag suits drivers without roof racks who need adaptable storage. It lacks the impact resistance of the Performotor’s ABS plastic. Choose this if you prioritize weight savings and flexible storage over the secure, weatherproof enclosure provided by a hard shell carrier.
RoofPax 19 cu ft Polyester Roof Bag
The RoofPax 19 cu ft Polyester Roof Bag offers more volume than the PM Performotor. It measures 47.2 inches long by 35.4 inches wide by 19.8 inches high. This shape is slightly shorter but taller and wider than the Performotor. It weighs 12.4 pounds, which is manageable for installation. The polyester material provides waterproof protection but lacks the rigid structure of the Performotor. It is designed for vehicles without roof racks, offering a flexible mounting solution. You give up the aerodynamic efficiency and scratch resistance of the hard shell. Select this option if you need a middle ground between the small Performotor and larger soft bags, prioritizing waterproofing and rack-free compatibility.
Asinking 20 cu ft Waterproof Roof Bag
The Asinking 20 cu ft Waterproof Roof Bag provides significantly more storage than the PM Performotor. It measures 52 inches long by 40 inches wide by 18.5 inches high. This width exceeds the Performotor’s 34-inch width, requiring wider roof spacing. It weighs 20 cubic feet of capacity, suitable for larger loads. The bag is lockable, adding security similar to the Performotor’s hard shell. It lacks the rigid protection against road debris and impacts. The soft shell conforms to your cargo, potentially allowing you to fit more items. Choose this if you need extra width and volume but still want a secure, lockable storage solution for your roof.
